                                  - IS THE REAL BACK -

I’ve been consumed with the above head line. I see signs of the possibility in the underground segment. But what is real. I Ask myself, who today is an artist that embodies the skill of an MC along with raping and understands the concept of good music, who  creates that story or movie or social situation in their rhymes that can take us away or make us feel that someone understands my situation. Yea I can go back to my old Kanye , Naz, Biggie, Pac or KRS1 and other legends who bring creative rhyme and story telling to music. Don’t get me wrong I need my club bangers and party music but without a balance it just saturates the game.  I want to hear music being refreshed and born new again with a new creative point of view. So I went on the hunt weeding through the garbage that floods the underground or what not.

But before I get into that,  Let me first give big up’s to J-Cole for  bringing a mainstream album with substance. Not to say no one can or does this, just not allot anymore far as mainstream hip hop goes. Ok now that that’s out the way, this kid Dee1 from Louisiana  was brought to my attention.  Not to discount any Louisiana rappers (free Boosie) but Dee1 is not your typical Louisiana  rapper.  Dee1 relates to his audience  through creative conscious rhymes with the ability to fit in well on a club banger without loosing himself or reaching too much. Overall he has a good balance and flow. What I like most is that he is comfortable in his own skin and his own movement and you can hear it come through in his music. Check him out at Dee1music.com.

Now this kid Dizzy, Dizzy Wright embodies what I like to call The Balance minus the Gimmick. He tells that story of making something of your self with no excuses. Fuck you hard time, fuck your obstacles, fuck your excuses, get out here and get yours even if you have to work a crummy job to get yourself across that bridge to obtain what you really want in life. Dizzy delivers this message all to well and can then turn around and bless the mic with a high time flow that delivers. Balance and substance hands down he handles this well. Last but surly not least shots out to everyone who was on the Hip Hop & Love tour Ski Beatz, Tabi Bonney, Murs, Mckinzie Eddy, Da$h, Sean O’Connell, Haziq Ali.  This was the best hip hop & r&b concert for the Money.  The group MC’ed the hell out this concert. The guest appearance from GLC was dope. Ski killed each segment.  It was definitely a treat for me, to be live in front of the producer who was responsible for most of the hip hop I grew up on.
